Studies will be on English language, and will be hold at every participating faculty. We are proud that Commissioner for Protection of Equality Republic of Serbia will provide, as relevant, and independent public body, will provide expert opinion and advises about goals, expediency, and comprehensiveness of planned GenSec master studies.

The project attempts to increase the role and impact of women in the security sector, whereby the security sector is defined as any entity in charge of preserving order and safety within a community or a state. Gender equality is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of democratic societies. Addressing the underrepresentation of women in security systems is essential for achieving gender equality and promoting diversity and inclusivity in these critical sectors. Women bring unique perspectives, experiences, and skills to the security domain, which can enhance the effectiveness and legitimacy of security policies, practices, and institutions. The GenSec consortium wishes to bridge this gap through education by creating a new and innovative joint/double master´s programme Gender and Security following the joint project partners´ efforts to markedly and significantly support gender mainstreaming in the security domain and increase the number of female experts who can obtain high-ranking positions in the field. All partner institutions will work as coconstructors of a new and innovative joint master´s programme equipping both students and staff with the opportunity to participate in further building the process of internationalisation of their respective institutions, forming professional and educational networks in a quality and competitive manner, while making significant steps towards refining their societies through improved access for female members in the security sector so important for the success and progress of a society. The consortium´s approach and efforts will be based on a comprehensive whole-society perspective which recognises that education is not only about academic content but also about preparing students to engage with and contribute to diverse social, economic, and cultural contexts. The consortium includes three HEIs from Serbia, North Macedonia and Georgia, as well as an NGO and a government entity from Serbia.

The GenSec project consortium has defined one general and two specific objectives. The general project objective is to contribute to gender mainstreaming efforts in security sector and to widening access to highrank positions in security sector of female professionals.

Specific project objectives are as follows:

SPO1: to co-create a joint and multiple degree Master´s program Gender and Security;

SPO2: to support further collaboration and internationalization efforts of partner universities.
